FIRST things first!

Wooooo! We’re officially three years old you lot! Let’s all get some cake in celebration!
The Corvid Review‘s officially hit three years old! Woooo!

And hey! Seeing how it’s our big day and all, I should totally cook an anatid with some fruits and stuffings and things! Let me just go check my pantry for a mo.

Let’s see… we’ve got a Crow (nah. No fat on those bones to roast with). We’ve got a little Nutcracker (not enough to go around). We’ve got a couple of ravens (not fancying those right now). We’ve got a Vulture (ewwwwwww!). Heck. I was sure we had an anatid hanging around somewhere… Hang on. Let me think.

I’ve got a few… “presents” for you (like… butter and herbs and a big warm oven for you to sit in…)!

Now… while I’m off hunting for our little anatid, let’s talk about what’s going on. I know we’ve been all hush-hush lately, and we’ve got a LOT to go over. We said way back when that we’d be a bit mum this year, but we’ve been a lot more than just “mum” for the last few months. I mean, just look at all these posts I never got around to! 

It might take a while (okay okay… longer than a while), but I’m going to get around to ALL of them at some point or another over the next few months (pin this on the wall, kids!). We were complaining so much about how 2018 wasn’t going to be a good year for cinema (and then it turned out pretty alright in the end) but then we get to 2019 and… jeez. This year looks even worse. There are only like two films left that I want to see this year (and one of them’s already kinda come out)! So I guess being a little late with reviews isn’t going to be that big a problem for you lovely lot. Right?

But now… why did I say months up there?

Let’s get the Cap’n out of the way first! He’s been busy with our “secret projects”. That’s all. He’ll be back now and again to write things but he’s away for most of the time these days. He’s also setting up a big “refit” for the blog as well, but he’ll tell you about all that some other time. 

Far as the Nutcracker goes… she’s still here. She’s going to be showing up a lot after she’s back from her big continental holiday that ended two weeks ago. The rest of the boys are still around too and you’re going to be seeing a few posts by them popping up to fill the big empty space that’s shown up on this blog. 

But now let’s get to what’s important. Me. 

It’s been no real secret that I’ve been down and out sick for a long time now. Something bad happened way back in January and I ended up spending a few weeks in and out of hospitals. That pretty much turned everything upside down and and even though I’m doing better now… it’s getting really hard for me to keep up with things like I used to. And that’s not all. The thing I’ve been dancing around and not bringing up is that I’m not actually going to be able to stay onboard The Corvid Review any more. I know I’m making it sound like a big deal, but I used to like this whole posting once a week or so and keeping the front page full of posts if things were getting a little slow. But I can’t do that any more because on top of everything that’s been going on, I’ve had to move away and start a lot of things over in a whole new country, so it doesn’t look like I’ll be on The Corvid Review like I usually am. And so I’m going to be stepping down from my role of Number One. 

Or that’s what I would have done if I wasn’t such a good villain, I’m not gloating about my plans while anyone’s still got a chance to stop it. I left a few months ago. So I guess this is kind of a “goodbye for now” post as well until I can figure out where I’m going from here.

That doesn’t mean I’m leaving-leaving The Corvid Review though. It’s more like I’m going to be heading off to a different quadrant of the galaxy in my own blog-ship doing a few… “special missons” of my own… missions that I may or may not be able to tell you about because of how much VIOLENCE might be involved…

I’ll send in all the bits I had left to do when I can (as well as a brand new review!), but I’m not on the bridge any more. If it looks like I’ll be coming back, I’ll be sure to sneak right up on you lot and give you all a big evil hug, but for the mo, Auntie Magpie’s off the bridge and going boldly where no bird in their right mind has gone before! 

So that’s what’s been going on. 

But hey! There’s no need for those long faces you lot! Today’s a special day! We’re three years old now and all grown up! So let’s party like it’s 1989!
