an announcement by the Azure-Winged Magpie.
Before anyone asks: we’re going easy on the deadline. We’re still accepting entries until we announce that the window is officially closed. We’ll probably make a small announcement on Reddit when we figure out how long we’ll be staying open for. Everyone who submits during this period will go into our review-pile, no problem!
Now, while we’re going easy on the deadlines and such, what about the stories?
We’ve been a little harsh with our judging so far. We are, after all, looking for ten spectacular stories. And that’s why we’re going over each story with a fine-tooth comb. But we’ve loved the range of the entries we’ve received so far! You lovely lot have really pushed the boundaries with this one. Good job, all!
As for where we stand right now: we’re currently arguing over which stories stand where on our scoring chart. In the meantime, I’d like to announce that we have a few rewrite requests lined up.
Rewrite requests mean exactly what they say. These are stories we really liked. They each have enough potential to have made our “Contender” bracket, but we think they need a tiny bit of improvement to climb that last rung to the high and mighty “Accepted!” lounge.
In the “Accepted!” lounge, your stories will be treated to Michelin-grade cuisine and only the finest of wines while we wait for you to get back to us!
If you receive such a request: we’ll do our best to tell you what we think could be improved and why. We won’t ask for any major changes regarding the plot, of course, since it is your story and not ours.
From there on, we’ll work with you to see if we can come to an end-product that works for everyone involved.
These requests won’t be very complex, so don’t worry, they won’t take too long. If you don’t wish to consider a rewrite, please let us know.
We’ll start to send our rewrite requests from Friday. Please bear with us while we read through the rest of our entries.
And before I leave you, I should add that: We’re happy to announce that we’ve found our first acceptance!
For now, we’ll keep the accepted entry a deep, dark secret until we’ve confirmed a second accepted entry. This is a story each of us loved right off the cuff. It did so well with what it had to work with!
Expect a further update when the rewrite requests are sent out. We’ll have quite a lot to talk about.
